This installation is the most recent elaboration of the Molten Media series (2013–2018; 2024), my long-term examination of electronic waste. The work presents a collection of material remnants of the recent and distant past. In showcasing mineral, organic, and electronic materials together, the project explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between “natural” and “artificial”. Incorporating a display case from the University of Porto, Molten Media: Supernatural subverts traditional modes of stratifying artifacts of natural history that exclude traces of human impacts on ecology.
